Practice makes perfect according to record-breaking Suryavanshi
At 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest ever player in the IPL to make a century against Gujarat Titans on Monday.
Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi was understandably delighted after hitting the second-fastest Indian Premier League century in the competition's history for Rajasthan Royals on Monday.
Suryavanshi, who is just 14 years old, smashed the ton in just 35 balls, while he also became the youngest player in IPL history to make a century.
"It feels really good. It was my first century in the IPL in my third innings. What I've been practising for the last three-four months, the result is showing," he said, as quoted by ESPN cricinfo.
"I don't see the ground so much, just focus on the ball. Batting with him gives me confidence because he keeps very positive and giving me advice, so it becomes easy to bat with him. It is like a dream, to score a century in the IPL.
"No, no fear. [On if bowlers will target him] I'm not thinking about all that, I am just focusing on playing."
Suryavanshi was signed for 1.1 crore at last year's auction and immediately made history when becoming the youngest player in IPL history to play earlier April, when he hit his first ball for six.
Against the Gujarat Titans on Monday, he put on 166 with India batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was suitably impressed with his team-mate.
"Incredible innings, one of the best I have seen. I hope he will do it for us for a long time. I was telling him to just keep going, incredible today. He just played amazing shots, he practises well, works hard in the hits," he said.
"He has the game and temperament, I wish him all the luck. We were talking that somebody needs to stay and finish the game after the last three games, I was there luckily today and tried my best. Our coach says one game at a time and we'll give 100% each game."

All-rounder Riyan Parag, meanwhile, echoed the sentiment of Jaiswal.
"It was incredible, we've spent two months with him, we have seen what he can do. but to see him do this against the world-class bowlers GT has, can't express in words," he said.
"We were thinking how we can finish this earlier, bat with real intent, it came off. Big confidence booster, we were searching for this win, now taking it one game at a time."
As a result of the eight-wicket victory for Rajasthan Royals, they climb to eighth in the IPL table, while Gujarat Titans remain third. Next up for RR are Mumbai Indians on Thursday.
