Raducanu cruises past Ishii in Miami opener
Emma Raducanu will face Emma Navarro in the next round of the Miami Open after sealing her first win at the tournament against Sayaka Ishii.
Emma Raducanu breezed into the second round of the Miami Open following a dominant straight-sets victory over wild card Sayaka Ishii.
Raducanu, who also claimed her first victory in Miami, earned a 6-2 6-1 win over her teenage opponent in just 65 minutes.
The Briton responded well to her first-round exit at Indian Wells to Moyuka Uchijima, and will face the tournament's eighth seed, Emma Navarro, in the next round.
It was also Raducanu's first proper event with new coach Vladimir Platenik, and the partnership is off to a promising start.
"It's going to be an extremely challenging match," Raducanu said of her second round match against Navarro. "She's probably in better form, so I can go out and express myself and try and compete for every point."
There was a little hesitancy early on from Raducanu, but following a break of serve in the sixth game, she never looked back and cruised to the first set.
By then, the damage was done and Raducanu made light work of her opponent, winning the next five games in a row before serving to seal the match.

Data Debrief: Raducanu ends Miami hoodoo in style
In Raducanu's previous Miami outings, she fell to Katerina Siniakova and Bianca Andreescu at the first hurdle, but she ensured there would be no hat-trick of opening round defeats.
Raducanu served up six aces throughout the contest, but her task was made simpler thanks to an opening set littered with mistakes by Ishii, with the 19-year-old making 12 unforced errors to the world number 60's six.
The former US Open champion will face Navarro in the second round, her first meeting with a top 10 player since losing to Iga Swiatek in the Australian Open third round.
