The Golden State Warriors are riding a wave after their trade for Jimmy Butler, so says Steve Kerr.

Golden State beat the Dallas Mavericks 126-102 on Sunday, making it five wins from their six games since Butler joined.

Stephen Curry was the star of the show with a game-high 30 points, while Butler contributed 18 points, five assists and three rebounds.

And Kerr believes Butler's impact since his arrival from the Miami Heat has been clear to see.

“You can tell our fans see the difference," Kerr said.

"They feel the momentum just like we do. It was an important shift — the trade itself. I think I mentioned this after the Sacramento [Kings] game, we needed [the Butler trade].

"We felt it. We were kind of treading water. We couldn't get any traction.

"Sometimes, you gotta shake things up.

"We shook things up and just so happened that one of the best players in the league is available.

"That doesn't happen very often. It's a move that made sense."

Butler has averaged 20.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists across his six appearances for the Warriors so far.

It was a big day for the Warriors, as they retired Andre Iguodala's number nine jersey after the game.

Iguodala helped Golden State win four championships and was named the NBA Finals MVP in 2015.
