The Punjab Kings moved up to second in the Indian Premier League following a 37-run victory over the Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday. 

Prabhsimran Singh's 91 runs and Arshdeep Singh's new-ball spell helped Punjab to a seventh win of the season, and are now a point behind leaders Royal Challengers Bengaluru. 

After losing Priyansh Arya in the first over, the Kings found their groove with Singh at the crease, with the opener aided by a fine knock from captain Shreyas Iyer (45). 

Punjab ended with a total of 236-5, and started strongly with the ball in hand by grabbing the dismissals of Aiden Markram (13) and Mitchell Marsh (duck) early on. 

Ayush Badoni's 74 steadied the ship for Lucknow, but the loss of Nicholas Pooran (six), Rishabh Pant (18) and David Miller (11) proved costly in their run chase. 

Abdul Samad chipped in with 45, but LSG ultimately fell well short of their target as they suffered a third straight defeat.

Data Debrief: Punjab end Dharamsala drought

Dharamsala has not been a happy hunting ground for Punjab, who last won there in 2013.

However, they stopped the rot in style with 34 boundaries (16 fours and 18 sixes) on the way to their 11th total of 200-plus in the IPL; a tally only bettered by the Mumbai Indians.

The Kings' total of 236 was their highest in Dharamsala, as well as the most they have ever registered against LSG.
