Rangers 1-1 Celtic: Idah equaliser sees spoils shared in cagey Old Firm derby

Rangers are now without a win in seven straight matches at Ibrox after being held to a draw against Celtic in Sunday's Old Firm derby.

Celtic came from behind to deny Rangers a third consecutive Old Firm victory as Adam Idah's second-half leveller earned a 1-1 draw at Ibrox.

Brendan Rodgers' side, who wrapped up the Scottish Premiership title after their win over Dundee United last Sunday, maintained a 17-point lead over their fierce rivals.

The hosts almost found themselves in front with just two minutes on the clock, but Leon Balogun's close-range header from James Tavernier's corner clipped the crossbar.

Barry Ferguson's team had the ball in the back of the net when another teasing Tavernier set-piece was met with a powerful header by Nicolas Raskin in the 25th minute.

But the goal was chalked off for offside against Raskin, who had just strayed beyond Celtic's defensive when the ball was whipped into the penalty area.

Rangers did take the lead in the 44th minute when Mohamed Diomande's pass was brilliantly dummied by Vaclav Cerny, allowing Cyriel Dessers to finish past Viljami Sinisalo.

But Celtic restored parity 12 minutes after the restart when Idah's deflected shot found a way past Liam Kelly, though the goal was initially ruled out for offside.

However, that decision was overturned following a VAR review, with Daizen Maeda ruled not to have impeded Kelly's line of sight when Idah's effort found its way into the net.

Maeda then had a glorious chance to snatch all three points in the last minute of stoppage time, but he was denied by the legs of Kelly as he tried to round the Rangers goalkeeper.

Data Debrief: Unwanted home record for Rangers

Rangers knew the significance of a victory here, not only for derby bragging rights, but to halt their poor run at home. However, they were unable to find a winner on Sunday.

Indeed, Rangers are now without a win at home in their last seven matches in all competitions. The last time they had gone six home games without a win was back in 1960.

The final Old Firm of the season was fairly even, though. Both teams had an expected goals (xG) total of 1.06, though Rangers did have more shots than Celtic (13 to seven).

Rangers did at least stop a run of having conceded at least two goals in each of their last eight league matches before Sunday's clash.
