Mirra Andreeva no longer fears any opponent ahead of her last-16 meeting with Elena Rybakina at Indian Wells, having made history with Sunday's victory over Clara Tauson.

Andreeva beat world number 21 Tauson 6-3 6-0 in a rematch of last month's final at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, where the 17-year-old won her first WTA 1000 title.

She is the youngest player to win nine of her first 10 matches at WTA 1000 events to start a calendar year since the format was introduced in 2009, and the youngest woman to make the round of 16 at Indian Wells since Amanda Anisimova did so as a 16-year-old in 2018.

Andreeva will face Rybakina at the next stage, after the world number seven rolled past Katie Boulter 6-0 7-5 in her own round-of-32 match on Sunday.

"I have been playing well recently," Andreeva said. "It just feels that I know exactly what to do on the court. 

"For example, I would say that before in some tournaments, it depended on the match.

"But now I just know that I go out there, it doesn't matter who I play, the ball is coming to me and I know what to do.

"I just feel like everything is clear in my head, and I know exactly what to do with the ball. It's kind of a good feeling, I can say. I hope I can maintain this for as long as I can."

Meanwhile, Rybakina's victory over Boulter was her 207th at WTA events since the start of 2020, with only Iga Swiatek (267) and Aryna Sabalenka (231) recording more.

Rybakina and Andreeva have one victory apiece from their two head-to-head meetings, with Andreeva triumphing in three sets when they last met in last month's Dubai semi-finals.
