Butler says Miami Heat return 'just another game'

The Golden State Warriors lost to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, and their next game sees them face Jimmy Butler's old team on Tuesday.

Jimmy Butler will treat Tuesday's return to the Miami Heat as "just another game", as the Golden State Warriors look to respond to Saturday's loss in Atlanta.

The Warriors went down 124-115 to the Hawks at State Farm Arena, with Trae Young scoring 25 points and tacking on 10 assists for his 41st double-double of the campaign.

Georges Niang added 23 for Atlanta and Onyeka Okongwu had 20, while Butler led Golden State with 25 points, eight assists and four rebounds.

The Warriors, playing without Stephen Curry after he suffered a pelvic contusion earlier in the week, lost for just the third time in 17 games.

They will have an opportunity to respond against the team that traded Butler last month following a tumultuous breakup and have since lost 17 of their 21 games.

But Butler does not see his return to Kaseya Center as a particularly special occasion.

"Yeah, I was traded from there, yada, yada, yada," Butler said after Saturday's game. "Yeah, it didn't end the way that people wanted to, yada yada yada.

"But that's so far behind me now. I don't even think about it.

"I don't pay attention to anything except for the trajectory of this squad."

Butler was suspended on three occasions by the Heat before his trade, including an indefinite ban after he walked out of a practice session.

But he is not worried about the reception he will receive from his former fans, saying: "It doesn't make no difference. I'm a member of the Golden State Warriors.

"I love that fanbase. They showed me a lot of love while I was there. But I'm there to win now. I'm on the opposing team."

Reflecting on Saturday's defeat, Butler warned the Warriors must find a way of performing without Curry, who will be reevaluated on Monday.

"Another game for me, another game that we're expected to win for sure," Butler said of the defeat. "We've got to figure it out very quickly.

"We were alright. We didn't win nothing like we were supposed to. So I don't know. We made some cool runs. We had some fun. I think that's all we did."

Now 41-30 for the season, the Warriors sit sixth in the Western Conference.

Their trip to Atlanta kicks off a five-game road stretch that concludes against the Los Angeles Lakers on April 3.
