Alisson has returned to Liverpool after sustaining a head injury in Brazil's win over Colombia in World Cup qualifying on Thursday.

The goalkeeper clashed heads with Colombia defender Davinson Sanchez and was substituted in the 78th minute of their 2-1 victory after receiving treatment.

Reports say that Alisson was taken off as a precaution, having complained about feeling dizzy following the collision, but he will play no part in Brazil's next match against Argentina after returning to Liverpool, the club confirmed.

"Alisson suffered a head injury and was replaced due to a suspected concussion," Brazil's team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said after the match.

"We will now follow the CBF protocol, and he will undergo the recommended... tests.

Alisson Becker has departed the Brazil national team set-up and will return to Liverpool.

"If all the tests are normal, we will proceed and perform a cognitive test. Then we will evaluate the player.

"He is normal, without any complaints. He did not report any fainting or memory loss."

Brazil, who are already without Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson through injury, sit second in the table with 21 points from 13 games. They are four adrift of leaders Argentina, who have a game in hand.

It is not clear if Alisson will miss any games for Liverpool, who are currently 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League. They return to top-flight action on April 2 against Everton.
