Another year, another All-Star Game selection for the Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James.

James was named an All-Star on Thursday, extending his NBA record with a 21st consecutive All-Star selection.

James' total All-Star Game selections are two more than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most by any player in NBA history, and his streak of 21 consecutive years being named a starter is eight more than the next-longest of 13 by Bob Cousy.

Joining James as Western Conference All-Star starters are Phoenix's Kevin Durant and Denver's Nikola Jokic in the frontcourt, while Golden State's Stephen Curry and the NBA-leading scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Oklahoma City are the starting guards.

For the Eastern Conference, New York's Jalen Brunson and Cleveland's Donovan Mitchell will start in the backcourt with Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo, Boston's Jayson Tatum and the Knicks' Karl-Anthony Towns in the frontcourt.

The All-Star Game will be in San Francisco on February 16.

There will be 14 more All-Stars announced on January 30, and they'll be selected in a vote of the league's head coaches. The starters were picked in balloting from fans, media and current players.

The All-Star Game has a new format this season, featuring the 24 All-Stars split into three teams of eight players each.

Those three teams, along with a fourth team made up of NBA rookies and second-year players, will play in a four-team tournament, featuring two semifinal games followed by a championship. In all games, the first team to 40 points wins.
