Arsenal and Tottenham transfer target Gomes pens Wolves extension
Joao Gomes had been touted as a possible target for Arsenal and Tottenham, but he is now set to remain with Wolves.
Reported Arsenal and Tottenham transfer target Joao Gomes has signed a five-year contract extension to remain with Wolves until 2030.
Gomes joined Wolves from Flamengo in January 2023 and has since become a fan favourite at Molineux, making 72 Premier League appearances and scoring six goals.
Three of those strikes have come this season, with only Matheus Cunha (13) and Jorgen Strand Larsen (nine) scoring more for Wolves.
The Brazil international had been linked with a move to one of the Premier League's biggest clubs, but his Wolves contract, which reportedly does not contain a release clause, will now run for five further years with an option to extend by another 12 months.
Head coach Vitor Pereira told the club's website: "I'm very happy because Joao is a team player. He gives 100%, and he has the quality to help this team to make the next step.

"At the end of every game, he has given everything for the team, defending, attacking, supporting his team-mates, and this is what we need in our team.
"We must come to Wolverhampton with this hunger, this spirit to help the team. He's very important because he's a midfielder with physicality and the power to run for 90 minutes, and he's young. He has big potential and can be a top player."
Gomes' new contract will ease fears of Wolves losing multiple star players in the next transfer window, with leading goalscorer Cunha likely to move on after penning a contract with a £62.5million release clause.
Wolves are currently nine points clear of the relegation zone with nine games remaining, the first of which is against West Ham on Tuesday.
