Sensational 14-year-old Suryavanshi scores historic IPL century as Royals beat Titans
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, at the age of 14 years and 32 days, made the second-fastest century in IPL history to stun the Gujarat Titans.
Fourteen-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored the second-fastest century in Indian Premier League history as Rajasthan Royals beat Gujarat Titans by eight wickets on Monday.
Having lost seven of nine matches this year, the Royals need a perfect end to the campaign – and several other results to go in their favour – to have any chance of making the playoffs.
And they had Suryavanshi to thank for keeping their slim hopes mathematically alive as he sent records tumbling with a stunning knock of 101 off just 38 balls faced.
Suryavanshi had his hundred after 35 deliveries, five more than Chris Gayle required to make the IPL's fastest ton back in 2013, for Royal Challengers Bangaluru versus Pune Warriors.

Looking to join RCB on 14 points at the top of the standings, the Titans made a solid start with the bat as Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill combined for 93 before the first wicket fell.
Sudharsan was on 39 off 30 balls when he was caught at long-on by Riyan Parag off the bowling of Maheesh Theekshana, and that same duo combined again to end Gill's innings at 84 runs in the 17th over.
The Titans must have been confident of victory at 167-2 when that latter wicket was taken, and when Jos Buttler came in to thrash an unbeaten 50 off 26 balls, including three fours and four maximums, their hopes were only raised further.
They reached 209-4 following the late losses of Washington Sundar (13) and Rahul Tewatia (9), but Suryavanshi wasted no time in letting them know the chase was on.
A six off the third legal ball of the RR innings was the first of 11 Suryavanshi would hit on his historic outing, though his fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was fortunate to be dropped by Buttler in the second over.
The fourth over proved to be the most expensive of Ishan Kishan's IPL career as Suryavanshi whacked him for 28 runs with three maximums and two fours. The next over saw him reach his half-century from 17 balls – the fastest 50 of the season.
And when Karim Janat was brought in to bowl for the first time in the IPL, Suryavanshi slogged all six of his deliveries for boundaries to take 30 off the 10th over.

The 14-year-old reached his century in the 11th over, doing so in style by pulling the legendary Rashid Khan over the midwicket boundary, and the Royals were 166-1 when his outing was finally halted by Prasidh Krishna's yorker.
But with RR needing less than a run a ball, it was a procession from there, with Jaiswal remaining unbeaten on 70 and captain Parag adding 32 in a memorable win.
Data debrief: A star is born
Suryavanshi was in tears when his promising IPL debut ended with him being stumped by Rishabh Pant of the Lucknow Super Giants on April 19.
If that knock of 34 off 20 balls demonstrated his enormous potential, Monday's exploits cemented his place as the new darling of Indian cricket.

At the age of 14 years and 32 days, Suryavanshi smashed the record for the youngest player to score an IPL century, previously held by Manish Pandey, who was 19 years and 253 days old when he did so for RCB in 2009.
Suryavanshi's 11 sixes were the most ever scored by an Indian player in an IPL match, too, with Murali Vijay, Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Gill and Abhishek Sharma previously hitting 10 in a single innings.
