NBA: Thunder hold off Pistons for 11th straight victory
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 33 points and the NBA-leading Thunder extended their winning streak to 11 with a 119-103 win over the Pistons
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 33 points, and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the short-handed Detroit Pistons 119-103 on Wednesday night for their 11th straight win.
Jalen Williams added 23 points and Chet Holmgren had 22 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks for the Thunder.
Oklahoma City has a three-game lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers with six games remaining in the race for the league’s best record and homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs.
Tim Hardaway Jr. led the Pistons with 23 points to pick up the slack for All-Star guard Cade Cunningham, who was out with a bruised left calf. The Pistons also were missing three players because of their altercation with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. Forward Ron Holland II and guard Marcus Sasser served their suspensions and forward/center Isaiah Stewart served the first game of his two-game suspension against Oklahoma City.
Commissioner Adam Silver was in attendance, and the Thunder gave him the same kind of show they’ve delivered all season. Lu Dort's tip-in at the halftime buzzer gave the Thunder a 65-59 lead at the break, and they opened the second half on a 10-0 run to take a 75-59 lead.
Detroit cut the deficit to four points in the fourth quarter before the Thunder closed strong.
Oklahoma City finished with a 29-1 record against Eastern Conference opponents this season. The 96.7% winning percentage is the best in league history against an opposing conference. The only loss against the East was at Cleveland on Jan. 8.

Streaking Heat cool Celtics
Tyler Herro had 25 points and nine assists and the Miami Heat extended their season-best winning streak to six games with a 124-103 victory over the Boston Celtics.
Bam Adebayo had 21 points for Miami, which had seven players finish in double figures to cap a 3-0 road trip.
The Heat's run of wins came after a stretch last month during which they lost 10 consecutive games. They played without Andrew Wiggins (hamstring), Duncan Robinson (back) and Kevin Love (personal reasons).
Jaylen Brown had 24 points and nine rebounds for the Celtics, who had their season-best nine-game win streak snapped. Jayson Tatum and Derrick White both added 16 points apiece.
Boston trimmed a 22-point deficit to 91-87 in the fourth quarter, but the Heat responded with a 22-9 spurt to rebuild their cushion.
The Heat built on a strong first half by opening the third quarter on a 10-3 run to take their 22-point lead. Boston roared back, using a 16-1 run to trim the deficit to three late in the period.

Donovan Mitchell scored 27 points and the Cleveland Cavaliers matched the second-most wins in franchise history, defeating the New York Knicks 124-105.
Jarrett Allen added 21 points for the Cavaliers, who have 61 wins, equalling the 2009-10 squad. That was the final season in LeBron James’ first stint with the team. The franchise record is 66 wins during the 2008-09 season.
With Cleveland's win and Boston's loss to Miami, the Cavaliers have a five-game lead for the top seed in the Eastern Conference with six games remaining.
The Cavaliers trailed 60-53 at halftime before taking control in the third quarter. The game was tied at 83-all before they went on a 15-2 run over a four-minute span late in the third and early in the fourth to go on top for good.
New York's Karl-Anthony Towns had 25 points, 13 rebounds and seven turnovers after missing Tuesday's game due to knee soreness. OG Anunoby scored 23.
Cleveland started its decisive run late in the third quarter with eight straight points. That included a steal and driving layup from Isaac Okoro to extend the lead to 89-83.
