Lillard unsurprised by Trent's record-equalling game against Pacers
Gary Trent Jr. spurred the Milwaukee Bucks to a win over the Indiana Pacers, clawing back a game to make it 2-1 in the series after Game 3.
Damian Lillard was not surprised by Gary Trent Jr.'s performance that saw him tie a Milwaukee Bucks franchise playoff record.
Trent made nine 3-pointers in the Bucks' 117-101 win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday, tying Hall of Famer Ray Allen’s mark for the most in a postseason game for the team.
A big second-half performance from Milwaukee means they have cut the Pacers' series lead to 2-1 after Game 3.
Trent also scored 37 points, a playoff career high, while Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with the same tally on 14-of-19 shooting with 12 rebounds and six assists.
They became the first Bucks duo to each score at least 35 points in a Bucks playoff game.
"When he [Trent] has a performance like tonight, I know how much he really believes in himself," Lillard said. "This type of game doesn't surprise me, and it came at a time that we needed it.
"One thing I told the team when they were trying to get Gary here, and I was trying to make that connection, I told them that he's one of the most confident players I've played with.
"He's an unshakeable guy. He's very stubborn. He's a guy that's not going to fold up, and when moments come, he'll be there."

The Bucks initially struggled in the first half and were not helped by Trent's brief departure as he struggled with a shin contusion.
They trailed by 10 at the break, but Trent connected on three 3-pointers early in the third to pull the Bucks even at 62.
Trent only started nine of the 74 games he played during the regular season, and wanted to make it count when he was told on Thursday that he would be starting Game 3.
"My mindset was just to come in and get a win," he said. "Obviously, we know what it means if we lost this game.
"Every day, every game, come in and make an impact on both ends.
"It's really a blessing and a testament to my hard work and everything that I put into it [that he equalled Allen's record].
"I was a big fan of Ray Allen as a kid and watched him accomplish great things as a Buck."
Game 4 will take place in Milwaukee on Sunday.
