Kelly concedes future is 'not at Man City' ahead of transfer deadline
Chloe Kelly has expressed her desire to leave Manchester City in an impassioned Instagram post as she bids to save her England future.
Chloe Kelly has said she just wants "to be happy again" as she seeks a move away from Manchester City before Thursday's transfer deadline.
Kelly has started just once for Gareth Taylor's side in the Women's Super League this season and released a statement on Wednesday about her lack of game time.
The 27-year-old also cited her ambitions of featuring for England at this summer's European Championship as Sarina Wiegman's side look to defend the title they won in 2022.
Indeed, it was Kelly herself who scored the winning goal in the Lionesses' 2-1 win in the final against Germany, but she is now worried about her participation in this year's tournament in Switzerland.
Her current contract with the Citizens is due to end this June, though City are reportedly open to allowing the midfielder to leave the club before Thursday's deadline.
WSL rivals Manchester United have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, while Brighton have also reportedly expressed their interest in her services.
In an Instagram message posted on Wednesday, Kelly conceded that she has "accepted my future is not at this club beyond then".
"With the Euros fast approaching, this summer is a huge one and I want to be in a position to give it my best shot to represent my country.
"However, to be dictated whom I can and can't join with only four months left of the football season is having a huge impact on not only my career but my mental wellbeing.
"The situation has been dragged on for too long, it's disappointing and not right."
She added she could not "control someone's negative behaviour" towards her as she sought to clarify her position on Wednesday - although she did not name any individual.
Her only WSL start this season came back in October in a 2-0 win over West Ham back in October, with her other five appearances in the top-flight coming from the bench.
"I'm at a pivotal point in my life and my career is so important to me. [It] is very disappointing that the sport we love can make you feel this way especially after there's been so much growth in our sport," Kelly added.
"I am human and I have and will give everything to the game that I love. Ultimately, I just want to be happy again."
