'It's still in our hands' – Nuno urges Forest to get back on track
Nottingham Forest went down 1-0 at home to Everton on Sunday, and their Champions League qualification chances now look under threat.
Nuno Espirito Santo put aside his frustration to reiterate that Nottingham Forest's Champions League hopes are still in their own hands.
Forest have now lost back-to-back Premier League games after a last-gasp 1-0 home defeat to Everton on Saturday.
The Toffees were the better team at the City Ground, where Abdoulaye Doucoure grabbed a 94th-minute winner.
With Manchester City and Aston Villa both winning, and Chelsea and Newcastle United in action on Sunday, the pressure is now firmly on third-place Forest, with the top five securing Champions League qualification.
"Very tough and very disappointing," Nuno told BBC Sport.
"The game was not the best and we were not comfortable. The beginning of the second half was the only time we were able to settle down and play.
"When you cannot win because the opponent is having a better game than you, you still have the draw. You still need to be solid and compact. Today, we were punished by our own mistakes.
"It is going to be tough to the end of the season, but the positive thing is it's still in our hands and we have to bounce back and play better.
"Nobody is going to give us anything, we have to conquer it. It is important to have a good week of preparation for the Tottenham game."
Next up for Forest is a trip to Nuno's former club Tottenham on April 21. Opta's supercomputer still ranks their chances of securing Champions League football at 73.8%.
Everton, meanwhile, celebrated their first win since February, though David Moyes' team have only lost twice in the league since he replaced Sean Dyche in January.
The Toffees have lost just one of their last eight Premier League matches against opponents above them in the Premier League table at the start of the day (W4 D3), this after losing each of their previous three before this run.
Doucoure's goal (93:03) was Everton’s latest winning goal away from home in the Premier League on record (since 2006-07).
The midfielder celebrated in front of the travelling fans by miming signing a contract. It has been reported Everton have not triggered an option to extend the 32-year-old's deal.
Doucoure, though, wants to stay.
"I can't talk too much about that but it is maybe my last moments at the club and at the moment it is very quiet on the club side. I love this club," Doucoure told BBC Sport.
"I love this club. Since the moment I signed, always I want to stay. My contract is running out so let's see what happens in the next couple of weeks but I love this club."
