'If you don't aim to win it, you're never going to win it' - Rashford eyes Champions League glory with Villa

Marcus Rashford has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of 2024-25 and has his eyes on the prize when it comes to the Champions League.

Marcus Rashford says he wants to win the Champions League with Aston Villa after joining them on loan from Manchester United.

Villa signed the 27-year-old on loan until the end of the 2024-25 season, with the option to buy him for £40million when the deal finishes.

Rashford made 15 Premier League appearances for United this season, netting four times, but has not featured for them since he was dropped from the squad for the Manchester derby on December 15.

Last season, Rashford scored eight times in all competitions, struggling to reach the heights of the 2022-23 campaign when he netted 30 goals in 56 appearances, with 17 of those coming in the Premier League.

The England international feels he is a good fit for Unai Emery’s set-up and highlighted his lofty ambitions for his loan spell.

"It's an ambitious time for this club and a great opportunity for me to join the team and help them keep pushing forward. I'm excited, can't wait for the first training session and obviously the first game," he told VillaTV.

"[Unai Emery is] a top manager and what he's done at the club since he's come to Villa is unbelievable.

"It's the constant ambition that's attractive, and it's why you want to join such a club.

"I've had to choose somewhere where I feel my style of football is suited to and can help them and help me rediscover and improve as a player.

"I think it's clear [what he wants to achieve]. We're obviously still in the Champions League; we want to go as far as we can in that.

"If you don't aim to win it, you're never going to win it. That'll be my main objective and keep pushing in the league to get as high as possible.

"I know I can hurt teams. I know when I'm playing at my best, I can decide football games."

Rashford could make his Villa debut in the FA Cup on Sunday when they face Tottenham.
