Bournemouth need to improve to achieve what they deserve says Iraola

Bournemouth host Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday after drawing 2-2 at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has said that he thinks his side deserve something this season, but warned that they must improve in order to achieve it.

The Cherries host Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday, following a 2-2 draw away to Tottenham Hotspur in which they surrendered a two-goal lead, which left them ninth in the Premier League and three points behind sixth.

“My biggest concern is that the good things that we are doing, I think we are playing very well, we are performing really well, to make them matter at the end because I think that the players deserve to take something from this season," he said.

“We need to be more efficient, more experienced. We have this gap with the teams that are, because they are bigger or because they have more experience, they find ways to take points and I think we need to improve this game management.

“But I will try to fight until the end to get something from this season, definitely.”

Scotland international Ryan Christie, meanwhile, backed goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to bounce back from giving away a late penalty that gave Spurs the opportunity to equalise in the match.

The Spanish goalkeeper fouled Son Heung-min after rushing out to close him down, with the latter converting the penalty to earn his side a point that had looked unlikely for large periods of the match.

“I think he's a bit gutted himself in terms of the penalty but it's split-second decisions,” said Christie.

“He'll bounce back and he’s helped us in plenty of games this season and I'm sure he will between now and the end.”

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank is targeting small improvements ahead of their trip to the Vitality Stadium.

The Bees were beaten 1-0 by Aston Villa at the Gtech Community Stadium last weekend, but Frank believes that they weren't far away from getting something out of the game.

"We created many dangerous situations without really having the margins," he said. "I'm really pleased with my team, especially in the second half, I feel we deserved more than we got. We played with great intensity, played forward and put them under pressure.

"Of course we dream and want to end as high as possible."

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Bournemouth – Justin Kluivert

Kluivert is Bournemouth's top scorer with 12 league goals this season, including two hat-tricks.

He also leads the way for assists, having contributed six over the course of the season. No Bournemouth player has ever topped both goalscoring and assist charts across a top-flight campaign.

Brentford – Yoane Wissa

Wissa is just two goal involvements away from becoming the second Brentford player (after Bryan Mbeumo) to be involved in 50 Premier League goals (39 goals, nin4 assists).

Wissa has had a hand in four goals in his last two appearances against Bournemouth in the competition (three goals, one assist).

MATCH PREDICTION: BOURNEMOUTH WIN

Following their 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, Brentford come into this having won just one of their last three matches in all competitions (D2 L4).

Bournemouth have lost just three of their last 16 league games (W8 D5), despite surrendering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Tottenham Hotspur last time out.

Despite recently picking up their travelling form, Brentford's away record is only the 15th-best in the Premier League (W4 D2 L7).

Bournemouth have scored more goals in second-half stoppage time than any other side in the Premier League this season (eight), while only Aston Villa (7) have conceded more than Brentford (6).
