Mirra Andreeva remained on course for back-to-back WTA 1000 titles, after a dominant straight-sets victory over Elena Rybakina booked her place in the Indian Wells Open quarter-finals.

The 17-year-old, who also triumphed in Dubai at the end of last month, took just over an hour to seal an emphatic 6-1 6-2 rout of the former Wimbledon champion.

Andreeva had beaten Rybakina in the semi-finals on the way to her Dubai title, and she laid down a marker by breaking in three successive games during the opening set.

The seventh seed looked to respond at the start of the second, but an early break was quickly cancelled out by Andreeva.

The ninth seed - the youngest player to reach the round of 16 at Indian Wells in seven years - broke again in the fourth game and eighth game as she soared to a ninth successive win, which set up a quarter-final clash with Elina Svitolina.

Andreeva, who is yet to drop a set this fortnight, goes from strength, as she won 20 of 25 points on first serve, while converting six of 12 break points. 

Wrapping up victory in 64 minutes, at 17 years and 316 days old, she is the youngest player to reach the women's singles quarter-finals at Indian Wells since compatriot Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in 2009.
