Philippe Clement believes his Rangers side "can do special things" as they prepared for their Europa League clash against Manchester United with a 5-0 win over Fraserburgh in the third round of the Scottish Cup.

A hat-trick from Cyriel Dessers along with strikes from Clinton Nsiala and Ross McCausland made it a comfortable afternoon at the Ibrox as Clement's side dispatched the Highland League club with ease.

It was a dominant performance for Rangers, who had 29 shots, hitting the target with nine of those and were denied by the post three times. Fraserburgh, meanwhile, only managed two attempts, with Mason Munn having a sole save to make.

The Belgian is aware of the potential of his side and hopes they manage to reach it when they travel to Old Trafford to face United on Thursday.

He told BBC Scotland: "The team has worked really hard over the last couple of months to be in a good situation in the Europa League. This is a massive challenge. We still have our problems with injuries and players not on the European list.

"But this team can do special things, they have proved that already."

Clement was also pleased to see an injection of youth in Rangers' performance, with four 18-year-olds in Munn, Zak Lovelace, Bailey Rice and Findlay Curtis all involved.

"It's a good result with a lot of young players getting an opportunity," said Clement.

"We go through; no injuries, and they get experience. That is a massive thing for me."
