Emma Raducanu suffered an opening round exit after a marathon match at the Singapore Tennis Open as Cristina Bucsa pulled off a stunning win on Monday.

Despite winning the opening set, Raducanu was then put on the back foot by the world number one, who triumphed 5-7 7-5 7-5 in just over three hours.

The Brit, who lost in the third round of the Australian Open to Iga Swiatek before her partnership with coach Nick Cavaday ended, started strongly, having to defend two break points in the opening game.

Bucsa ensured it was a contest from the very start as the opening set saw five breaks of serve, though Raducanu had the edge, reeling off three consecutive wins to take the lead.

Neither player could hold their serve at the start of the second set before Bucsa finally found control, emulating her opponent by winning the final three games to force a decider.

The pair then traded blows in an even tighter third set with Bucsa having the chance to serve for the match after breaking to make it 6-5. Raducanu fought valiantly, forcing a third match point only to hit the net.

Data Debrief: Going the distance

This match could not have been much closer, with both players having to dig extremely deep during their lengthy contest.

Raducanu faced 17 break points overall, saving eight of those (47%), while Bucsa defended seven of the 15 she faced (also 47%).

The 22-year-old's serving was slightly better - she hit seven aces and served at 73% - she also committed seven double faults, with Bucsa only registering three.
