Pooran and Markram propel Super Giants to victory over Titans
Lucknow Super Giants made it three straight Indian Premier League wins as Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram starred against Gujarat Titans.
Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram turned on the style with the bat as Lucknow Super Giants claimed a six-wicket win over Gujarat Titans.
Pooran has been in fine form in the Indian Premier League, and he plundered 61 from just 34 deliveries on Saturday, with his knock including seven sixes.
Markram was equally as effective, hitting nine fours and a six in a quickfire 58 as LSG - who were without Mitchell Marsh - chased down a target of 181 to reel off a third straight victory.
Pooran and Markram also played their part in the field, with the former catching out Sai Sudharsan (56) from Ravi Bishnoi's delivery before the latter then held onto a loose shot from Shubman Gill (60).
That fine opening partnership from Sudharsan and Gill got the Titans off to a strong start, but Gujarat lost Washington Sundar and Jos Buttler in quick succession.
Sherfane Rutherford hit 22 before he was dismissed in the final over by Shardul Thakur (2-34), who sent Rahul Tewatia packing for a duck a ball later but was unable to complete his hat-trick.
Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant (21) fell in the seventh over of the chase, yet Markram and Pooran picked up the pace and, by the time their partnership was ended in the 12th over, the Super Giants were on 123-2.
Pooran's brilliant stand came to an end when he picked out long on from Rashid Khan's delivery, but Ayush Badoni (28 not out) was on hand to guide LSG to victory, slamming a four and a six in succession to win it.

Data Debrief: Pooran powers on
Pooran is this season's highest run scorer in the IPL, with 349 runs from his six matches.
He has now reached a half-century in 25 balls or less on eight occasions in the IPL, with four of those coming this season.
That matches the joint-best total in a single season of the competition, alongside Travis Head in 2024, while only David Warner (nine) has more such half-centuries in the IPL.
LSG sit third, behind the Titans but on an equal eight points.
