Winning the NBA championship is all that matters to the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Luka Doncic.

The Lakers routed the Houston Rockets 140-109 on Friday, clinching the number three seed in the Western Conference in the process.

Doncic, who arrived in a blockbuster trade from the Dallas Mavericks in February, finished with 39 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.

And he sees no reason why the Lakers cannot go all the way this year.

"That's our only goal," Doncic said when asked of the Lakers' title hopes.

"I think we have the team to do it.

"The good part of the season is coming, so you've got to stay ready, got to stay locked in, but for sure, the rest is going to be great for me."

The Lakers have secured home-court advantage for the first round of the playoffs for the first time since 2010-11. They were the top seed in 2019-20, but due to COVID-19, the playoffs took place in Orlando.

There was some concern for LeBron James, who exited the game after scoring 14 points due to what appeared to be a hip or groin issue, but Lakers coach JJ Redick allayed any injury fears.

And Doncic says the Lakers have more firepower, anyway.

"It's not just me and LeBron," Doncic said.

"We have a great team around us; everybody helps us in so many ways. So if we want to win the championship, it's going to take all of us."

Doncic's sentiment was echoed by his teammate Austin Reaves, who said: "I feel like we could win a championship, to be honest with you."

Redick, meanwhile, celebrated his 50th win as Lakers coach.

"Just incredibly proud of our team," Redick said.

"It's an accomplishment to win 50 games in the regular season in any year. I think, particularly in this year, in this Western Conference, it is.

"And it's a credit to our players. Each one, at different points in time, has contributed to winning. They've all participated in a winning culture."
