Arteta: Arsenal actively looking to sign a forward in January
Arsenal travel to Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday with a lack of firepower, owing to injuries to their key players.
Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta has said that the club are actively looking for someone to replace the goals lost through injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
Saka has not played since picking up a hamstring injury in Arsenal's 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace in December, while Jesus is a long-term absentee after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the FA Cup against Manchester United earlier in January.
As a result, the Gunners have been left short up top and Arteta would like to rectify that during the current transfer window.
"My opinion is clear," he said during his pre-game press conference ahead of facing Wolves on Saturday.
"We lost two very important players in Saka and Jesus. We lack goals, we lack people and we lack options. It's clear, if we can get the right player.
"That's why we are actively looking at it. Someone who makes us better. We need some help.
"You have certain resources, the ability to recruit certain players, develop certain players, use certain players from the academy. It's a balance of what we can do."
Arteta also confirmed that loanees Neto and Raheem Sterling would both be staying for the remainder of the season, saying that terminating either one was "not an option."
Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira, meanwhile, has pressed home the importance of his players keeping their standards up for the full game.
They were beaten 3-1 away to Chelsea on Monday, despite having got themselves back to 1-1 on the stroke of half-time.
"We need to be consistent for 90 minutes," said Pereira. "When we have moments with the ball, and we try to play with the ball, we start to create problems for our opponents.
"If we play close to our box, this is a problem for us. They start to create problems, crosses in the box, second balls and set-pieces. We need to improve our set-piece defending.
"We need more physicality and be more aggressive in duels."

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Wolves – Matheus Cunha
Cunha has scored 10 league goals for Wolves this season, accounting for 31% of their total number of goals in the league (32).
The Brazilian has netted three times in his last four appearances at Molineux, only failing to score in the 4-2 defeat to Bournemouth at the end of November.
Arsenal – Leandro Trossard
Trossard has been involved in three goals in his last two Premier League games (1G 2A), as many as in his previous 14 appearances.
The Belgian has also been involved in more goals against Wolves in the Premier League than he has against any other opponent (2G 6A).
MATCH PREDICTION: ARSENAL WIN
Wolves come into this having lost three league games out of three in 2025, having conceded three goals in each of those matches.
They have also lost 18 of their last 20 Premier League games against sides in the top two of the table, with the exceptions being back-to-back 2-1 victories in 2023 against Manchester City (September) and Tottenham (November).
Since doing the double over Arsenal in the 2020-21 campaign, Wolves have now lost each of their last seven against the Gunners in the Premier League.
Only Liverpool (17) are on a longer current unbeaten run in the Premier League than Arsenal (12). However, the Gunners haven’t managed to record a clean sheet in any of their last nine away games in the competition.
The Gunners have also won four games out of four against teams currently in the bottom four of the Premier League.
