Gerrard leaves Al-Ettifaq by mutual consent after 18 months in charge
Despite signing a new two-year contract with Al-Ettifaq in January last year, Steven Gerrard has now left the club by mutual consent.
Steven Gerrard has left his role as manager of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq by mutual consent after 18 months in charge of the club.
Gerrard joined Al-Ettifaq in July 2023 and had only signed a new two-year contract with the club in January last year, but a poor run of results sees him out of work once again.
Al-Ettifaq have won just five of their 17 league matches this season, leaving them five points above the relegation zone, resulting in Gerrard's dismissal.
Gerrard oversaw 59 games in charge of the Saudi Arabian outfit across all competitions, winning 23 (D16 L23), ending his time at the club with a win percentage of just 39%.
Of the three clubs the former Liverpool midfielder has managed, only with Aston Villa (32.5%) has he won fewer games. At Rangers, he won 64.8% of his 193 matches at the helm.

"I want to express my gratitude to the club, the players, the fans, and everyone involved for the opportunity and the support during my time here," Gerrard said in a statement.
"Especially the president, Mr. Samer, CEO Mr Hamad and the head of the football committee, Mr. Hatim.
"I express my gratitude to Mr. Samer and Mr. Hatim. From the first day, I was warmly welcomed, and I have enjoyed the chance to work in a new country with a different culture.
"So overall, I have learned a lot, and it's been a positive experience personally and for my family as well.
"But football is unpredictable and sometimes things don't go the way we want. However, I leave with great respect for the club and country.
"I have no doubt that the work being done will bring success in the future, and I wish the team the very best for the rest of the season."
