Fulham found 'different way' to win at Wolves, says Silva

Marco Silva was delighted with how Fulham controlled the game to hold out for a fine away win at Wolves, their first at Molineux since 1985.

Marco Silva was delighted with the control Fulham showed in their 2-1 away win over Wolves to move up to ninth in the Premier League table.

Silva's men took the lead inside the first minute as Ryan Sessegnon scored his first Premier League goal since returning to the club after he was put through by Andreas Pereira.

Wolves responded well to going behind and got back on level terms through Joao Gomes' third goal of the campaign.

But Fulham made a similarly strong start to the second half and went ahead again as Rodrigo Muniz beat the goalkeeper with a wonderful chipped finish to give them their first win at Molineux since 1985, and their first-ever in the Premier League.

The visitors managed to restrict Wolves to few opportunities after going in front again, with the hosts managing just two on-target efforts in the second half, and Silva enjoyed seeing a different side to Fulham's game.

He said to TNT Sports: "We scored early in the second half and controlled the game in a different way than we normally do. We didn't have much of the ball until the last 15 minutes, when we had some chances to kill the game.”

"But they didn't have one chance in the second half. I think we did really well. In some moments, we have to win games like we won tonight."

Sessegnon and Muniz were both handed starts and took their goals brilliantly, with Silva lauding their contributions.

He said: "Ryan [Sessegnon] has that capacity to arrive in the right moments at the right spot and to be there. A great finish for him. You can see many moments from the training ground.

"What a goal from Rodrigo, amazing game. He is in a very good moment, great moments from him and Raul [Jimenez], it's hard for me to decide."

Sessegnon's opener for Fulham after 58 seconds was the earliest goal that Wolves have conceded in the Premier League since Jack Grealish netted against them for Manchester City at Molineux in September 2022 (55 seconds).

Wolves have lost more Premier League home games than any other non-promoted side so far this season (nine), and Vitor Pereira was disappointed with the way his side began both halves, as they conceded in the first two minutes of both to consign themselves to another defeat.

He told TNT Sports: "If you start a game conceding a goal like we did, and you go for the second half, and you concede another goal like we did, we have to look at ourselves and correct what we should correct.

"We lost the opportunity to win three important points, and now we have to start working on the mistakes and to correct."
