Liverpool leads both the Premier League and the Champions League, but nothing is secured yet. Chelsea and Arsenal are closely chasing the “Reds” in domestic competition, and in the Champions League, everything achieved so far—being the best team to date in the group stage—resets to zero. In the knockout rounds, there are no favorites, only moments of form, competitive level, and teams’ ability to overcome difficult situations.
Contract renewals are a concern for the club. Virgil Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold present challenges for Liverpool, while Mo Salah, already a legend, has asked for time to see if he can meet Liverpool’s demands for a couple more seasons. Virgil Van Dijk, the leader of the defense, is also aiming to renew his contract. He wants to finish his career at Anfield, and perhaps that could also be the option ultimately chosen by Mo Salah.
Then there’s Alexander-Arnold. Rumors are swirling that he could end up in white. For Ancelotti, it would be a gift that would bring technical quality and great speed to a squad that needs the defensive solidity the English international would provide. From Madrid, the groundwork is being laid to lure the English full-back, who could strengthen a position where Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez are not enough. A new soldier is needed at the manager’s disposal, and that could be Alexander-Arnold.
