Doncic: It's on me and LeBron to reignite Lakers after Magic defeat

The Los Angeles Lakers slumped to 3-7 in their last 10 games in the NBA after losing to the Orlando Magic on Monday.

Luka Doncic said it is up to him and LeBron James to turn the Los Angeles Lakers' fortunes around after slipping to another defeat, this time against the Orlando Magic.

Doncic scored 32 points and James added 24, but the pair were unable to halt the Lakers recent slump as they fell to a 118-106 loss on Monday.

The result saw Los Angeles drop to 3-7 in their last 10 games, with the average margin of those defeats well into double figures (15.7 points).

The Lakers are fourth in the Western Conference and only three games up on the Los Angeles Clippers with 11 matches of the regular season remaining.

And with a top-six seed in the division far from guaranteed, the loss to the Magic offered Doncic the opportunity for self-reflection as he aims to galvanise his reeling team.

"I think we just got a little bit satisfied," Doncic said. "We can't afford that right now."

Los Angeles' third-quarter performance was reminiscent of their collapse in a 146-115 defeat to the Chicago Bulls just days earlier.

Orlando took a 77-70 lead midway through the third quarter before entering the fourth quarter with a comfortable 92-75 advantage.

When asked who would take charge of stopping a trend like that at both ends of the floor, Doncic put himself and James forward as the players to lead the Lakers.

"I think me and Bron think we should be the guys to do that," Doncic said. "That's on me.

"Obviously, I've got to do better, I've got to talk more. I talked in the first half, then just kind of [let my] voice down, and I shouldn't do that."

Seven of Los Angeles' remaining games are on the road and the Lakers still have three back-to-back sets left on the schedule, starting against the Indian Pacers on Wednesday.

They then face the Bulls again before taking on the Memphis Grizzlies, with the pressure on the Lakers as they search for momentum heading into the postseason.

"We need the adversity," forward Dorian Finney-Smith added. "Especially being a new team, we get to learn a lot about each other during tough times.

"You usually don't see things when you're winning. So we got the chance to grow. We're going to use this opportunity to grow."
