Sporting winger Edwards loaned to Burnley
Marcus Edwards has joined Championship promotion hopefuls Burnley on loan, having struggled for minutes at Sporting CP this season.
Burnley have signed winger Marcus Edwards on loan from Sporting CP until the end of the season.
Edwards, who has been capped by England up to under-20 level, came through Tottenham's academy before heading to Portugal to join Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2019.
He scored 10 goals in the Primera Liga across two seasons with Vitoria before moving to Sporting in a €7.7million deal, going on to win a league title under Ruben Amorim last term.
However, he has been limited to just six league appearances this season and has now been granted the opportunity to head out on loan, bolstering Burnley's bid for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Edwards said of the move: "It feels amazing. Burnley is like a Premier League club. I'm really happy to be here.
"The main thing now is to get promoted back to the Premier League. I’m coming here to try and get myself into the team. I hope we can make it over the line this season and I hope Burnley fans will enjoy watching me play too."
"He's the main reason why I am here."

Edwards previously worked with Burnley boss Scott Parker when the former midfielder coached in Tottenham's academy.
