New Zealand head coach Gary Stead to stand down from white-ball formats
New Zealand coach Gary Stead has elected to stand down from the white-ball teams, and is considering his Test future.
Gary Stead will step down from his role as New Zealand's head coach for the white-ball formats.
Stead has been in charge of New Zealand across all formats since 2018.
Just a year after taking on the role, he guided New Zealand to the ODI World Cup final against England, which the Black Caps lost in a Super Over.
Also under his leadership, New Zealand reached the finals of the 2021 T20 World Cup and this year's Champions Trophy, while also winning the inaugural World Test Championship.
He teased that he still has coaching "left in him", but not in the role of a head coach.
In a statement released by New Zealand cricket, Stead said: "I am looking forward to getting away from touring life for a while and having a think about my future."
Stead will also consider his position in charge of the Test team.

"The next month will give me the opportunity to discuss the situation more with my wife, family and others," he added.
"I'll be in a better position to know whether I want to reapply for the Test coaching position after this time of reflection."
Former South Africa white-ball coach Rob Walter has already been linked to the role.
