KL Rahul steals the show as Capitals maintain perfect start

The Delhi Capitals made it four wins from four Indian Premier League games as KL Rahul scored 93 runs from 53 deliveries.

KL Rahul inspired Delhi Capitals to a fantastic six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League.

Former RCB star Rahul plundered 93 and put on a 111-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs (38 not out) to maintain the Capitals' perfect record.

Rahul came in with the Capitals floundering at 10-2 following the early dismissals of Faf du Plessis (two) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (seven), while Abishek Porel (seven) followed soon after.

RCB's excellent start to the second innings came on the back of a flourish from Tim David, who added 37 from 20 deliveries to propel them to a respectable 163-7.

They had started their innings brilliantly, achieving the quickest 50 in the IPL this season, with 30 of those runs coming from a single over as Phil Salt (37) and Virat Kohli (22) set about making inroads.

Yet a bizarre mix-up between the openers resulted in Salt being run out, and Devdutt Padikkal (one), Kohli (22) and Liam Livingstone (four) all fell before the 10th over was out.

Captain Rajat Patidar contributed 25 before David's brilliant knock, which included four sixes, while Kuldeep Yadav (2-17) and Vipraj Nigam (2-18) were the pick of the Delhi bowlers.

Du Plessis was almost run out by Kohli in Delhi's first innings with the bat, but the veteran campaigner then picked out Patidar in the field from Yash Dayal's delivery.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar then sent Fraser-McGurk and Porel packing with near carbon-copy dismissals - both batters scooping high into the sky, with wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma taking the catches.

Yet Rahul came to the fore, blistering his way to a half-century in just 37 balls, with Stubbs offering able support after Axar Patel (15) returned to the bench.

Fittingly, Rahul hit the winning runs, scooping a six down the leg side to seal a brilliant win.

Data Debrief: History for DC

Delhi have won their first four games of a season for the first time, and they are the only unbeaten team in this year's IPL.

Rahul stole the show, and his 111-run partnership with Stubbs made franchise history.

It is the highest fifth-wicket partnership for the team, surpassing the previous franchise record of 110, set by Ross Taylor and JP Duminy.
