A 'blessing' to equal Frazier's Knicks triple-double record, says Hart

The New York Knicks got back to winning ways against the Miami Heat, with Josh Hart tying a franchise history in the process.

Josh Hart says it is a "blessing" to equal New York Knicks legend Walt Frazier's single-season franchise record for triple-doubles.

Hart's eighth triple-double of the season helped the Knicks to a 116-95 win over the sputtering Miami Heat, who have now lost each of their last eight in a row, on Monday.

Mikal Bridges was the leading scorer for the Knicks with 28 points, getting 15 during a dominant third quarter. Hart, meanwhile, amassed 12 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists to tie the record.

It was a much-improved performance from the 30-year-old, who ensured a scoreless game in the loss to the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, which he put behind him against the Heat.

"My playing style is very sporadic, you never know what you're gonna get," Hart said.

"For me to be in the same sentence or tied with a record like that is nothing but a blessing.

"When I step away from this game, I'm really not gonna be in that many record books. And I'm fine with that.

"When I'm done with this game, I'm done with this game, but it's just a blessing from [Frazier] and my team-mates."

Karl-Anthony Towns also put in a big performance, scoring 15 straight points in the second quarter, finishing with 23 on the board.

Miami had made a strong start, but Towns single-handedly reversed the game's momentum to reduce the deficit at half-time by making six consecutive baskets - including a trio of 3-pointers - in the space of three minutes.

"We started out slow, and I wanted to add some energy to the game," Towns said.

"I got a chance to be aggressive … I wish I would've got more, but I was glad I was able to jump-start our offense so we could get this win."

And coach Tom Thibodeau needed just four words to sum up Towns' contribution as the Knicks made it three wins in four.

"He gave us life," Thibodeau said.
