Gilgeous-Alexander focused on wins not records as Thunder rout Pacers
The Oklahoma City Thunder rolled on against the Indiana Pacers and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander spoke about the team's goals this season.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander insists he and the Oklahoma City Thunder are paying no attention to any records after routing the Indiana Pacers 132-111.
NBA leading scorer Gilgeous-Alexander put up 33 points, making 10 of 23 field goals and 10 of 12 free throws, to help the Western Conference table-toppers to a 62nd win of the season and ninth in a row.
With the victory, the Thunder now have a three-game cushion over East leaders the Cleveland Cavaliers in a race to ensure home-court advantage throughout the play-offs.
They also tied up with the 2017 Golden State Warriors for the number of double-digit wins, but Gilgeous-Alexander said the only thing on the team's mind is racking up wins not records.
"We don't care one bit about any of those records," he said.
"They mean something but in the grand scheme of things (they) don't, we care about one thing and one thing only and that's to win, that's the ultimate goal.
"As long as we're taking steps in that direction, that's all we care about. We don't know about any of those things, we essentially don't care about them, we just care about getting better every day."

Gilgeous-Alexander also spoke about how head coach Mark Daigneault has managed to cultivate such a close-knit bond among the team.
"Coach hates credit, he hates anything besides like competition," he added.
"That purity from him, it sets the tone for us as a group. You ask how are we so close, so connected, him being our head coach and being the leader he is, he's so humble and down to earth.
"We all can say is he's really, really good at it. He's good personally, tactically, he's b****y in situations when he needs to be, not afraid of the moment or to get better. He empowers every single player who plays for him."
