Getafe 1-1 Barcelona: Flick's side dealt title blow as winless run continues

Barcelona were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Getafe, leaving them five points behind leaders Atletico Madrid in the LaLiga table.

Barcelona's winless run in LaLiga extended to four matches after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Getafe at the Estadio Coliseum on Saturday.

The result leaves them third in the standings, five points behind leaders Atletico Madrid, with rivals Real Madrid a point behind them and in action against Las Palmas on Sunday.

Hansi Flick's side found themselves in front with just nine minutes on the clock when Pedri's incisive pass was gathered by Jules Kounde, who bundled the ball past David Soria.

But the hosts drew level when Mauro Arambarri tucked the ball home from close range after Coba da Costa had seen his effort brilliantly saved by Inaki Pena.

Arambarri almost doubled his tally shortly after the break but fired his shot straight at Pena, with Lamine Yamal shooting wide at the other end moments later.

Christantus Uche then blazed an effort high and wide following a mistake from goalscorer Kounde, with Djene Dakonam also unable to trouble Pena soon after.

Barcelona had a late penalty appeal waved away after Kounde had his shirt pulled by Uche, but the referee allowed play to continue, with the visitors unable to find a way through in the closing stages.

Data Debrief: Barca's woes continue

Having started so strongly to the season, Barca have capitulated in their quest for the LaLiga crown, with the Opta Supercomputer handing them just a 10.6% chance of lifting the title this term following their latest defeat.

Barca have 39 points after their first 20 games in LaLiga this term. Since the 2004-05 campaign, only in 2021-22 have they had fewer points at this stage of a season (32).

Flick's side have also conceded at least one goal in each of their last nine league games, their worst run in the competition since an 11-game run between September and November in 2018 under Ernesto Valverde.
