Curry delighted to etch name in NBA history by passing 25,000 points

Stephen Curry reached the 25,000-point landmark on Saturday, and he is also just seven 3-pointers away from an unprecedented tally of 4,000.

Stephen Curry was delighted to join a legendary group as the Golden State Warriors guard became just the 10th player to score 25,000 points with a single NBA franchise.

Curry had a game-high 32 points as the Warriors improved to 36-28 with Saturday's 115-110 triumph over the Detroit Pistons at Chase Center, their fourth successive victory.

He reached that milestone with a 3-pointer midway through the third quarter, becoming just the 26th player in league history to score 25,000 points.

Only 10 players have ever done so with a single franchise, a list that is headlined by Kobe Bryant (33,643 points with the Los Angeles Lakers between 1996 and 2016).

Curry admitted he was not totally aware of the landmark after the game, saying: "It was a surprise, actually. I knew I was coming up on it, but I didn't think about it until I heard it in game.

"There's a list, [broadcaster] Tim Roye told me after the game. There are only 10 guys, I think that have done it with one franchise, so that's pretty special.

"The names that are on that list are synonymous with basketball history, so that's pretty cool."

The Warriors' official social media accounts later paid tribute to Curry, with the franchise posting on X: "A scorer like few others in NBA history. 25,000 points and Stephen is still hungry for more."

Warriors coach Steve Kerr was left in awe by the 37-year-old's latest achievement, hailing him for leading his team to victory while not at his brilliant best.

"It's stunning. It's night after night," Kerr said. "He was brilliant on a night when his shot really wasn't there, he was still brilliant. That's the mark of a great player."

The next landmark for Curry to chase is 4,000 3-pointers, something no player has ever achieved in league history.

Curry made four of 15 attempted 3s against Detroit and now needs just seven more to bring up that figure.

"It's crazy, crazy. It feels like 25,000 3s, actually! It's dynamite," Kerr said. "I loved that he played through fatigue and a physical defense and got to the line 12 times."
