Amorim: 'We may be the worst team in the history of Man Utd'
Ruben Amorim believes his Manchester United team may be the worst in the club's history after they were beaten by Brighton at Old Trafford.
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim said that his team are arguably the worst in the club's history after they were downed 3-1 by Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
Bruno Fernandes' penalty cancelled out Yakinba Minteh's early strike for Brighton in the first half, but the visitors took control in the second with Kaoru Mitoma and Georginio Rutter scoring to seal the win.
It meant the Seagulls won their third straight league match at Old Trafford, while United sit 13th after losing four of their last five home league games.
"We are the worst team, maybe, in the history of Manchester United," Amorim told Sky Sports.
"I know that you want headlines, but I'm saying that because we have to acknowledge it and change it."
Amorim expanded on where it went wrong for United. "It's not acceptable. We can play some football but in small spaces of time, it's not consistent," he said.
"We get nervous and suffer a goal and then it's hard to turn things around. Brighton were comfortable and we have to change fast.
"You could feel it in the stadium but we can't end games like that. No matter the result, we have to be a different team in all aspects.
"It is clear [this could last for a while]. I'm not going to change how I see the game, I'm clear on that. The players are going to suffer, the fans are going to suffer, I'm sorry."

Brighton not only became the second team – after Manchester City, who have done it twice – to win three straight Premier League games at Old Trafford, but have now won back-to-back matches on the road for the first time since September 2003.
Fabian Hurzeler's side are unbeaten in six league games, their best run since August 2022, and the German insists he was not surprised his team had enjoyed their afternoon in Manchester.
He told Sky Sports: "We should always be confident. If you don’t come here with belief in yourself, it won't work.
"We knew how United would play and you can prepare for that. We showed a very good performance and had good balance. We dominated and made good chances in the second half.
"We are proud and happy but these games only give three points so we have to keep pushing. It's special to win at Old Trafford against a club with big tradition, therefore we are happy but we have to keep working day by day.
"There is always some advice, half time is there to let players know what we need to do to win. It's only small changes and it's up to the players to win the game."
Brighton moved up to ninth with the victory, four points behind fourth-placed City.
